Sea Country Forum Marks One Year of momentum toward collective voice
It has been one year since more than 160 Traditional Owners came together on Gimuy Country for the first Sea Country Forum in over two decades – an historical gathering that continues to shape the future of Reef governance.
Held in March 2025, the Forum created space for Traditional Owners from across the Great Barrier Reef to come together, share knowledge and set priorities for caring for Sea Country. One year on, that momentum has not slowed.
ReefYARNS: Webinar Series
ReefTO is launching ReefYARNS – a webinar series creating space for Reef Traditional Owners to yarn, learn and stay connected, as conversations continue about a possible ReefTO Sea Country Alliance.
ReefYARNS sessions will share updates, explore key topics, and provide time for questions (via Q&A chat), supporting mob to stay informed and involved as we move toward collective decision‑making.

ReefTO Appoints First Youth Leaders to Shape the Future of Sea Country

ReefTO has launched its inaugural Reef Youth Circle, appointing three young Reef Traditional Owners to help lead decisions about Sea Country. The initiative delivers on a commitment made at the 2025 Sea Country Forum and reflects ReefTO’s focus on youth leadership and self‑determination.
