Jamay Deshong is a proud Koinjmal Traditional Owner youth with ancestral ties to Butchulla and Kabi Kabi / Gubbi Gubbi Country, along with South Sea Islander heritage.
Her drive comes from a vision of seeing Traditional Owner input at all levels of environmental decision-making.
Jamay’s involvement in the Reef Youth Circle allows her to actively contribute a youth and Traditional Owner perspective to environmental projects, ensuring that cultural knowledge, heritage values, and the voices of young people are represented in shaping sustainable and inclusive outcomes.
